DYE DAY 2023
What a great day! And the weather cooperated! Today was our annual Guild Dye Day. Our theme this year was gradient and self stripping methods of dyeing. The colours were fabulous, the learning was amazing and a good time was had by all. Some skeins were tangled, some colours were not exactly what was expected but everyone pitched in to help and suggestions were offered. In the end, everyone had a great story to tell about their yarn. A big thank you goes to Laurie and Jane for organizing such a great session and to Bob and Laurie for hosting the event.
Can’t wait to see those self stripping socks and shawls knit up. 🧶 🧦 🧶

CELEBRATING OUR 40TH ANNIVERSAY IN 2022
Our Guild celebrated its 40TH anniversary this year. In honour of our 40TH year, we decided in February of 2022 that we would spin and knit 40 squares to make an anniversary afghan to be donated to the Glengarry Pioneer Museum as a fundraiser raffle.
Our members spun some beautiful Corriedale in natural colours (white, light brown and dark brown) and knit up 8 inch squares. The squares were spectacular! All were very original and patterns were amazing. The squares were then assembled and a border was added. We ended up with one afghan containing a square from each member who participated and a lap coverlet with the extras.
Thank you to our organizers, Denise Roy and Claudette Voët who led us through this project and assembled the afghan and coverlet. They did an amazing job. We unveiled the afghan at our potluck anniversary luncheon at the museum in July. The food was very good and we all got party favours. Here is to another 40 years!
A VIRTUAL TOUR OF HAWKHILL FARM BY THE GLENGARRY PIONEER MUSEUM
Our Glengarry Pioneer Museum visited Hawkhill Farm, owned by Laurie Maus, Twistle Guild member and her husband, Bob Garner. They are long time farmers and have raised heritage breeds. In the video published by the museum, they share their herd and flocks of heritage breeds as well as the history and traditions surrounding them. Enjoy the virtual tour!
NOTICE FOR MEMBERS.
We hope that everyone is safe and healthy.
Due to closure of all community use venues and the request for self-isolation, our guild meetings are postponed until further notice. Many of us are spinning and creating at home, some are meeting virtually for spinning sessions. Let’s keep in touch virtually and share our work! Stay safe everyone.

CHESTERVILLE SPIN IN 2020!
On February 15th, many of us travelled to Chesterville for the 21st Spin In! It was a clear and sunny day, no snow! The organizers outdid themselves this year with an incredible selection of booths to tempt us. It was wonderful to socialise and spin in good company. The variety of wheels was amazing and everyone had a wonderful time. We are looking forward to the event next year.

MARCH MEETING 2020
We had our monthly meeting for March in Williamstown. It felt like spring! Many of us have begun to work on our combination spinning and some of us are already knitting with our fractal yarn! It is amazing the colours you get when you handle roving in different ways. We are looking forward to everyone’s skeins at our next meeting!

FIRST MEETING OF 2020!
We had our first meeting of 2020 yesterday! It was a wonderful day filled once again with good company, lots of fibre and giggles. 🧶 We welcomed two new members into our fold! We are glad you have joined us!
Following our business meeting, one of our members demonstrated fibre preparation for Combination spinning. It was interesting to see the process and hear how to plan for it. We all learned to “let it go” as we randomly pick sections of fibre to spin from multiple braids to then ply them into a beautiful yarn.
Then, we also discovered the concept of Fractal spinning which consists of a mathematical way of dividing a multicoloured braid to create wonderful colour combinations as we spin and ply.
We all have homework to do - bring our combination spun or fractal spun skein to the meeting next month for Show and Tell. 😊

TWISTLE GUILD CHRISTMAS LUNCHEON
As the end of 2019 nears, our members gathered together to have a great day of spinning, sharing and good cheer. Our Annual Christmas Luncheon was held last week with many members in attendance. As a group we spun and/or knit accessories to donate to a local charity for those in need. It was a great way to start our holiday season!
We had a wonderful year filled with great events and adventures! We look forward to seeing at our events and demonstrations next year! Our new schedule will be posted soon!
TWISTLE GUILD ANNUAL DYE DAY - 2019
Today was our Annual Twistle Guild Dye Day! Our day started with a mini workshop on speckle dyeing using the salt dye method. Everyone's skein turned out stunning with colours to "dye" for! 😉
The rest of our day was spent experimenting with our own individual dye pots and spinning as well as spending time in good company.
It was a perfect summer day!

WILLIAMSTOWN FAIR 2019
See you at the Fair! A saying that resonates during the summer months. The Williamstown Fair was this past weekend in Williamstown Ontario. Our Guild had a booth in the Agriculture Awareness building. It was certainly a homecoming weekend. We met new friends, and reconnected with people we knew. It was a wonderful time. Many of our members participated in the Home and Garden Spinning Class. The entries were plentiful and the quality of work was amazing! Congratulations to everyone! And thank you to everyone who volunteered this weekend in the Sir John Johnson Building.
DEMONSTRATION AT MACDONELL WILLIAMSON HOUSE
A few of us braved the very hot and humid weather on Saturday to enjoy a most pleasurable spinning session at the MacDonell-Williamson House in Chute-à-Blondeau. The breeze was wonderful through the windows in the parlour. We enjoyed a nice cool lemonade break and ended the day with a tea-lemonade and scone treat! A wonderful day surrounded by lots of histor

JULY MEETING - ANNUAL GUILD PICNIC
What a wonderful summer day! On July 10th, we had our annual Guild Picnic in North Glengarry by the pond on the beautiful and picturesque farm of our Guild President, Barbara. We were able to spin under the trees with a gently breeze all day! Members brought show and tell items as well as items they wish to exhibit at our local fair. We were entertained by the multiple birds who came to the feeders while we were spinning. It was a great day! Thank you Barbara and Stuart for your hospitality!

JULY 5 FREE SPIN AT THE GPM
Our first free spin at the Glengarry Pioneer Museum was a great success! We had visitors all the way from Colorado with connections to the area. It was wonderful to get to know them. It was a nice breezy day under the Pavillon. Our group worked on carding, plying and spinning both with wheels and spindles.

JUNE MEETING - 2019
Our first meeting of summer! We met at the St.Mary's Community Hall. Our mini workshop this month was how to prep jars for sun dyeing. Members brought jars, dye material (KoolAid and Wilton Icing Gel) and fibre. We carefully added our fibre to the prepared dye stock and brought them home to soak in the sun for a few days. Mother Nature cooperated and gave us a few warm days of sunshine. The colours were amazing! Here are a few examples. More photos to come soon. 😊

MAY MEETING - 2019
Beads, beads everywhere! We had our monthly meeting this week. Once our business meeting was done, one of our members gave a mini workshop on how to add beads to our knitting. Thank you Bonnie! Many of us discovered an easy way to embellish our lace and shawl knitting with carefully placed beads.
The rest of the day was spent with good friends spinning and chatting. There was lots of learning and giggling. 😉

April 2016 meeting. Concentration, chatting and laughing and of course spinning!
Our Free Spins where we spin, knit, chat and laugh
The theme of the 2015 Christmas exchange was 'hand warmers'. Once again the members showed their creativity in those beautiful mitts, wrist warmers, finger-less gloves and muffs.
As every year in December we do a Christmas gift exchange. 2014 the theme was a Neck warmer. The members had a lot of fun opening the brown bags with their surprise. The beautiful scarfs, cowls, etc. were amazing and appreciated by each and everyone.
